APOSTILLE LEGALISATION OF GERMAN DOCUMENTS FOR USE ABROAD

Docsbase Consular Services provides legalisation services for German documents by Apostille. In most cases, this can be done through an apostille certification of the ministry of foreign affairs, which certifies the authenticity of the original certificate. This can save you money and time as no further Diplomatic authentication or consular legalization is needed. We at Docsbase will assist you throughout the legalization process and provide you with advice specific to your demands and intended use of the document.

WHAT IS AN APOSTILLE IN GERMANY?

Legalisation of German documents confirms the authenticity of the signature and the authority of the issuer of a document. It is carried out by the consular officer of the state in which the document is to be used. For documents from many states, legalisation is not required reciprocally on the basis of international treaties or it is replaced by the “Hague Apostille”. An Apostille is a rectangular stamp containing the inscription “Convention de La Haye du 5 octobre 1961” in French. The stamp indicates whose signature the apostille authenticates and contains the date and the identification number of the apostille. Germany is fully compliant with the Haye convention and any documents with German apostille are accepted abroad.

HOW TO GET AN APOSTILLE IN GERMANY?

An Apostille can only be issued for an original document. The document must be in an acceptable condition and all stamps and signatures must be legible and intelligible. Furthermore, it must not contain any notes and annotations by a third party. We can also provide translation of existing apostilles into the language of the country that you intend to use the document. The responsible authority for the issuance of an apostille varies depending on the issuer of the original document. Apostilles for documents issued by the federal state can generally be requested at the Federal Office of Administration (Bundesverwaltungsamt). There are no uniform rules on who is responsible for issuing Apostilles in the federal states. We at Docsbase can advise you on who can issue the Apostille in a specific case and request the apostille for you.
